About
Learning Initiative Foundation for Tutoring (LIFT)
Mission Statement
A student-led tutoring network built to turn confusion into confidence.
Education is a powerful tool to change the world — and we’re taking advantage of that. We are committed to advancing students' knowledge and skills in a variety of high school courses that will advance their understanding of course content and improve their academic performance. We intend to use previous students of the courses who have now developed an expertise in the subject to share their understanding with other students during each of our classes. We plan to increase the number and variety of classes we teach, and we are a fully student-led organization.
Student-Led
Mentors teach with recent, course-specific experience instead of generic help.
Free Support
The goal is accessible academic support, not gatekeeping or paywalls.
Growth Plan
More classes, more mentors, and a broader support system over time.

Why LIFT Exists
Education should unlock momentum.
+
Education should unlock momentum.
+We treat tutoring as a way to help students move faster, understand more, and feel stronger in classes that usually slow them down.
How We Teach
Students learn from mentors who have already done the work.

+LIFT is built around experienced students sharing practical strategies, stronger explanations, and real class-specific insight.
Where This Goes
The roster keeps expanding with student needs.

WE PLAN ON EXTENDING OUR COURSE ROSTER IN THE FUTURE
How the Club Operates
- •We take in students who are having difficulties in their classes and want outside help to understand the topics better for tests and homework.
- •This could be for any reason of their choosing, and they will be paired with one of our experienced teachers to teach these concepts to make it easier for them.
- •At the end of the class, they will be given small tips and reminders that will help them remember things faster.
- •In the case of extra help required, we will provide more mentors, and real teachers will step in for resources.
- •We keep an internal admin system handy to track members, tutoring requests, and volunteer hours.
Specific Rules of the Club / Disclaimers

- •We will not give copies of documents to others

- •There will be checks within the team and within the extra students to find the levels of progress throughout the program

Student Teachers
The job of all mentors will be the same. They have to teach the subject that they are experts in to the students assigned to them. This can be done in groups or alone if specifically required. After each session, the students being taught will log their experiences so we can track attendance and progress. Mentors need to teach 2 classes to get a 1-hour signature from us. These signatures will count as volunteer hours, and this can be used in any youth council of their choice. Furthermore, they will be provided passes back to class in case of an emergency where they have to go overtime to finish the lesson, to make sure our students are fully prepared to tackle the challenges they were previously facing in that class. Most of these classes should be held in the library to be able to get the silence that is needed to understand and open the mind for information retention.
